It's never too late

The song Butterfly was really written in 1992-93, after I got out from the Navy. We recorded it in the summer of 1993 with a multitrack cassette recorder. So there was a lot of “ping ponging” going on. The sound, of course, is awful nowadays, but here is a small sample of the original recording…

So when the Covid hit, I finally had time to start re-recording the track(s). I first played all the instruments myself (using drum app). However, I was not happy with the results, so I got my friends involved.

Dec 5, 2022

We got together in the Silverhouse Studio and rehearsed the songs few times.

We managed to record the bass in few sessions with Khun Jane before Christmas 2022.

Then we used some professionals and went for drum recording to the Vintage Studios. Here is a clip Rafa showing how it is done…

After drums were done (I still cannot believe that Rafa could do five songs in one day, what a pro), it was time for guitars. The acoustic guitars were already done in the Vintage Studios, so we could focus on the electric ones. we did the recording in the Silverhouse Studios.

Finally, we went back to the Vintage Studios and got the awesome vocals in with Khun Cho.

Silent recording….

After all the recordings were done, we sent the files to Petri Nakkila of Fire Island Studios, Finland. They say that you cannot polish a turd, but Petri surely can 🙂 Petri has done mixing and mastering, thank you so much.
